WHAT THE WORD SAYS

                                            NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
                                                                                                                                      -JOHN 8:1-11.

The story of the adulterous woman we read about from the above passage is a reflection of what God does in the life of any condemned sinner who chose to come to Jesus. She was caught in the very act of immorality, and the provision of the law was death by stoning. This shows to us that every sin a man commits exposes him to satanic accusation (for satan is the accuser of brethren), and God’s judgment (for the soul that sinneth must die). The people who brought her to Jesus to seek His opinion about the provision of the law concerning her case were sinners themselves (all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory).  Their consciences condemned them!
When Jesus lifted Himself up, He could not find those accusers again. They have all gone! When a person comes to Jesus with a sincere heart of repentance, God will forgive all his sins, redeem his soul from death, nullify satan’s allegations against him, chase away all demonic manifestations like sicknesses, oppression, sorrow, curses and so on. Then God will expect him not to go back into sinning.
The enemies were present to destroy this woman with accusation and death; Jesus was there to save her with love, mercy and life. The kind of love Jesus has for you will not allow him to destroy you for whatever reason. He prefers to save you. The only order Jesus gave to this woman was that she should ‘go, and sin no more.’  That is the same order he is giving to everybody including you. But if a person neglects this command not to sin again, and go on sinning, Jesus will not stand for him again as He stood for this woman. He will then be exposed to enemies’ attack. He will die in his sins and go to hell. May you not go to hell in Jesus name. Jesus loves you and He wants to help you in any way you desire His help.

                                            BEFORE AND AFTER

‘There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;’
                                                                                                                                  -LUKE 16:19-22

This is the story of two men who lived sometimes in the past. One was so poor that he could not put meal on his table, afford a room to live in, nor access healthcare services. The other was so rich that everything he needed was available at his disposal. The poor man died of sickness while the rich man died a natural death. The rich man was given a befitting burial by his people, but the poor man was buried just to avoid the environmental pollution his fast decomposing dead body mighty cause to the community.  Two of them were buried! But then, something followed.
The poor man found himself in a place he had been looking up to. He found himself in paradise – the place of everlasting joy. But the rich man found himself in a place he had detested through out his life. A different place from where the poor man went. He met himself in hell – a place of eternal pain and agony.

And in hell he (the rich man) lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. –verse 23-25

Did Lazarus go to heaven because he was poor? No! Poverty is not a passport to heaven. Did the rich man go to hell because he was rich? No! Wealth is not a highway to hell. Why did Lazarus go to heaven? He simply obeyed the truth about the way to God. What is that way? Jesus Christ – the Son of God. (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God). –John 3:16-18. Lazarus embraced salvation through the sacrificial death of Christ Jesus, and that guaranteed him a place in paradise. Then, why was he still poor and sickly after embracing the salvation truth? He did not practice the biblical principles of enjoying God’s wealth and divine health.
Why did the rich man go to a place of torment? He rejected the salvation offer that is available to all human being. How do I know? Because he was even arguing with Abraham in the great beyond. (Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.)  When he was alive, he refused the salvation messages brought to him by God’s messengers. I imagine him saying: ‘have these preachers gone to paradise themselves before? I don’t believe them. They are religion fanatics.’
The destinies of these people had been determined already, but yours is yet to be finally determined. You can live your life to the fullness if you can only accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord today, and begin to study the biblical principles of God’s ways of blessing, healing, and so on under anointed messengers of God in a living church not too far from you. You will not go to hell after leaving the world and you will not live as a pauper here on earth in Jesus name. I love you.

NOW I UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF LOVE

As I had wrong understanding of what LOVE meant, so are people today. This wrong understanding of love has passed from one generation to another.  And the people of this generation are not spared. Many take infatuation for love, while large numbers of people are driven by lust thinking that they are under the influence of love. Whenever we see two young people dating, we used to think that they are in love. I thought that the way to express love is to ask a lady out as girlfriend, and that the lady involved should reciprocate by accepting the proposal.
I held on to this belief until the bitter experience of a young girl thought me otherwise. This girl was a vibrant secondary school student, full of hope for a bright future, aspiring to study in one of Nigeria universities, and with a great expectation of fulfilling a destiny. This great hope of hers lasted till she suddenly became pregnant for a young boy she professed to be in love with. She then lost her radiant disposition and suddenly became sorrowful, moody and embittered. Her hope was dashed, her expectation of a bright future became uncertain, and her destiny was abruptly aborted. She was ordered by her school authority to leave the school for one academic year to take care of the pregnancy and to nurse her baby. She vacated the school and never returned. She is now a poor peasant farmer in a poor village. What she considered to be love became her ruin. I therefore questioned my previous belief: 'if they were driven by love, why then did it lead them to bitterness?' Think about it!
Love does not mean selling your body for money gratification nor for earning good grade in your course of study. Neither does it amount to sleeping with a prospective employer or your superior officer to earn you employment or promotion. You don't have to sleep with a man to show him that you love him. Love is not immorality! As a young Christian in courtship, if your partner really loves you, he/she will not be asking you to engage yourselves in immorality. But if he/she allows the flesh to push him/her into asking for it, you can help him/her not to fall by turning down the request. Disallowing immoral conduct is a sign of maturity and love.  If love is not what majority of people call it, then what is love?
Since the fall of man in Genesis 3, human race has been plagued with sorrow, confusion, bitterness, sickness, infirmity, failure, hard labour, and other such vices. Man navigates through life without direction. But for the purpose of bringing man out of his predicament, God, driven by His love for humanity, sent His only begotten Son to come into the world to save and restore hope to the entire world including you. That's love. Jesus, the Son of God also willingly accepted to come and offer Himself to bear the consequences of your sin and to redeem you from satan and hell through his sacrificial death and resurrection. That also is love. 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life…Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends... But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' John3:16; 15:13; Ro 5:8. Can there be a greater expression of love than the one shown to you by the Lord? There cannot be any.  Think deep and consider these! The Love that savesfrom satan, sin and hell; the Love that restores peace, hope and joy] the Love that transforms darkness to light, penury to plenty, pains to praises; the Love that heals sick body, broken heart and depressed life; the Love that sets free from oppression, affliction and demonic grip; the Love that gives total liberty and unprecedented freedom. This is the true Love. The one God is asking you to embrace. 'If ye love me, keep my commandments… As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.'
You don't need to be a changed person before you can come to Jesus. He prefers you come the way you are. Just have a change of mind and come to Him. The prodigal son came the way he was - in his stinking state, putting on a torn rag, straight from the pigs' pen, unwashed and unkempt, without minding the onlookers' opinion, - he went to his father and his father eagerly and gladly accepted him without questioning his previous folly (Luke 15:11-24). I may not know your personal aspirations in life, but I have a sure Knowledge that God's Love is a giving Love. When you give Him your life, He will give you a new life. When you give Him your heart, He will give you a new heart. When you turn your situation over to Him, he will give your life a complete overhauling and give you a pleasant situation. This is the reality of the true love that God brought from His bowel of compassion to you. This is the kind of Love I have experienced and it has given meaning to my life. This is the kind of Love God is offering you NOW, and it is worthy of consideration and acceptance. You will begin to enjoy the kind of affection you never experienced before if you can sincerely from the dept of your heart give your life to God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord. I love you with God's kind of love and I wish you well. Shalom.
