Luke 13:6-9
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Jesus used to speak in parable to His followers. This is one of such parables, but this one requires your utmost attention.
A farmer planted a particular tree in his garden, hired a gardener to be working in that garden and had an expectation. What was his expectation? He expected the tree to bear fruits.
After the third year of hard work and investment in the garden, the tree refused to bear fruit. Though it grew to become a big tree full of leaves and life, but it was fruitless. The farmer therefore decided to cut it off.
The farmer was not moved by the size of the tree. He was not as much interested in greenness of the tree. What he wanted was fruit. He didn't plant it only to cover ground and produce leaves. The purpose of the tree was to bear fruit.
My dear friend, have you grown big and flourishing in life? Thank God for that. But are you fulfilling the original purpose why God planted you into the planet earth?
Do you realize God planted you into that office, that business, that ministry, that family, that community, and that place where you are with a specific expectation? Yes, God has expectations over your life. The question now is this:
ARE YOU FULFILLING WHAT GOD CREATED AND BLESSED YOU TO DO?
Thank God for the timely intervention and intercession of the man labouring in the farm.
He pleaded for more application of manure, but also pleaded for the last chance.
When the tree got another manure, it would be happy, but it never knew it was its last grace.
Yes, people are praying and God is keeping, preserving and increasing you. But it may be your last grace if you don't start to fulfill your purpose. God is not happy with a fruitless child. God is not happy with a selfish child. Grace has limit. Patience can be exhausted. Don't wait until you are hit hard before you take the issue of God's expectation over you serious.
Don't wait until you start loosing the grace, the blessings, the favour, and God's provisions before you stand to do that which God has commissioned you to do.
Be blessed.
My prayer for you today:
I pray that God will not remove and replace you in Jesus name Amen.
Scripture meditation for today - Revelation 2:5
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
